Veteran Government Relations Expert
Anthony M. Figliola Joins Island Strategies Team
Uniondale, Long Island,
New York, October 29, 2008
Island Strategies announced today that Anthony M. Figliola, a government
relations professional with extensive experience in both lobbying and
politics, has joined the Island Strategies team as the firm's Vice
President. In this new role, Figliola will leverage his extensive
professional relationships, taking a proactive approach to solving clients'
complex issues.
Figliola brings almost a decade of private and public sector government
experience to his new position. Most recently, he held the title of Deputy
Chief of Staff for the Town of Brookhaven, where he managed the town's
economic and energy initiatives. Prior to this, he held the position of
Deputy Director of the Brookhaven Industrial Development Agency. In both
roles he was responsible for the overall management of the town's Empire
Zone program as well as the management of the town's marketing, site
selection and economic policy programs, including the town's groundbreaking
Workforce Development Program.
Figliola's efforts to promote economic development in Brookhaven led to the
retention and creation of more than 1,500 jobs and over $800 million in
capital investment. The town garnered numerous awards under Figliola's
leadership, including the 2007 Suffolk County IDA of the Year from Long
Island Business News and the 2006/ 2007 Small Business Development Awards
from the L. I. Development Corporation.
"We are extremely pleased to have Anthony join our team," said Island
Strategies founder and former state assemblyman Arthur "Jerry" Kremer. "His
know-how and extensive contacts both on Long Island and in Albany will
deliver considerable clout on behalf of our clients."
Figliola previously worked as the Executive Director for the Suffolk County
and Town of Brookhaven Democratic Committees, where he was the financial
architect for the successful campaigns of Suffolk County Executive Steve
Levy, Congressman Tim Bishop and Brookhaven Supervisor Brian X. Foley
raising over $4 million. He holds a B.A. in Political Science and an M.A. in
Public Policy from Stony Brook University.
